Configuring NetUP Streamer via
the Web Interface

The Web interface is intended for setting main NetUP streamer parameters. The four main sections are available for an administrator:

  • DVB - for configuring DVB adapters;
  • RF/RCA - for configuring analog adapters;
  • Network - for configuring network interfaces;
  • System - for setting system parameters.
By default, the section DVB is opened.

Note: Standard login and password for logging into the system are admin / 123456. It is recommended that you change them to more secure ones.

DVB Section

In the DVB section a list of all installed DVB adapters and their statuses are shown (figure 1).

The list of all installed DVB adapters and their statuses
Fig. 1

The Adapter column contains numbers of adapters in ascending order.

In the Hardware column it can be seen adapter status. (OK message means that everything is fine; Failed message indicates a hardware failure of the device).

In the Service column the software statuses are shown (Running message indicates that the service is running; Stopped message means that the service has been stopped).

Note: The column headers Adapter, Hardware and Service can be clicked with the right mouse button to enable sorting on the column. Repeated click on the header reverses the sorting order.

In the Actions column operations on a particular adapter are listed, namely:

  • Configure - switch to setting adapter basic parameters;
  • Channels - switch to the channel tune mode;
  • EPG - switch to the EPG window;
  • Start Service - start the service if not running;
  • Stop Service - stop the service if running.

Note: Stopping the service breaks streaming of TV channels into the network by the adapter.

''Configure'' - Configuring Basic Adapter Parameters

In this section main DVB adapter parameters are available (figure 2).

Main DVB adapter parameters
Fig. 2

For convenience, the parameters are divided into 7 groups:

  • Adapter Status (figure 3).
    DVB adapter status
    Fig. 3

    In this group the current adapter status is shown. The information is being periodically updated every 2 seconds. The following parameters can be seen:

    • Service Status - software status (Running or Stopped);
    • Adapter Status - hardware status; contains five main indicators:
      • SIGNAL - green indicator means that the signal is detected. Red color indicates that no signal is detected;
      • CARRIER - this indicator shows presence (green) or absence (red) of the carrier frequency;
      • FEC - indicates presence/absence of error correction;
      • SYNC - if this indicator is green, the adapter has been successfully synchronized with the signal;
      • LOCK - the adapter has successfully captured the signal and is decoding it (green), or problems occurred (red).
      Generally, all indicators must be green. If one or a few of them are red, then the signal that is being received is incorrect or absent;
    • Signal Level. The higher the signal level is, the better is the stream quality;
    • Bytes Read - a counter of the number of bytes received from the adapter since the moment of the last service start.
  • Adapter Settings - general adapter settings (figure 4).
    Adapter Settings
    Fig. 4
    In this group you can set the signal frequency, polarization and the other parameters:
    • Frequency (frequency of the signal, set in MHz);
    • Symbol Rate
    • Polarisation - signal polarization type;
    • Count - number of frames, processed by the adapter at a time;
    • Tone - if the parameter is specified, the system adds a tone of a special frequency to the output stream;
    • Character Set - defines the encoding for channel names and other service information transmitted.
    Note: Change of Frequency resets channel settings for the adapter.
  • LNB Settings - low-noise block converter settings (figure 5).
    Low-noise block converter settings
    Fig. 5
    In this group it can be found LNB frequencies. More details on that can be found in the article:
    http://www.netup.tv/en-EN/streamer-configuration-guide.php.
  • EPG Database Settings (figure 6)
    EPG Database Settings
    Fig. 6
    In this group connection parameters should be specified for the MySQL database server storing EPG:
    • Name - database name;
    • Host - an IP address or a hostname of the database server;
    • Port - database port;
    • User Name - a username for accessing the database;
    • Password - a password for accessing the database;
    • Socket - a UNIX socket path (should be set only if the MySQL server runs on the same computer as the streamer software).
  • Middleware - Middleware connection settings (figure 7).
    Middleware connection settings
    Fig. 7
    The following parameters are available:
    • Host - an IP address or a hostname of the Middleware server;
    • Port - the Middleware port;
    • Login - a login to connect to the Middleware system;
    • Password - a password to connect to the Middleware system;
    • Path to the Key Store - a path to the encryption key storage;
    • Key Store Password - a password to the key storage;
    • Key Store Pass Phrase - a password for encryption keys.
    Note: The key storage and passwords are provided on purchase of the system.
  • Paths - path to store temporary files (figure 8).
    Path to store temporary files
    Fig. 8
    Paths to the following three directories can be set here:
    • Path to EIT files - a directory for storing EIT files;
    • Path to SDT files - a directory for storing SDT files;
    • Path to MPEG files - a directory for storing MPEG files.
  • Descrambling - settings for stream descrambling (figure 9).

    Fig. 9
    In this group the following parameters can be set:
    • Descrambler - descrambler type:
      • Internal - a standard newcamd server, built into the streamer;
      • CI - card interface;
      • External - external newcamd server.
    • Server Host - an IP address or a name of the newcamd server (available only for External mode);
    • Server Port - the newcamd port (available only for External mode).

''Channels'' - Channel Settings

In this section all channels, found by the DVB adapter, are listed (figure 10).

Note: For correct work of this screen, the adapter software must be running.

Channels, found by the DVB adapter
Fig. 10

The upper group (Adapter Status) shows the current adapter status. Then it follows the list of all channels found by the adapter at this frequency. Besides the channel name, there are shown its identifier, audio and video PID and also an identifier of the CA system (CAID). A channel type is marked by an icon on the left and can be one of the following:

  • - open TV stream;
  • - scrambled TV stream;
  • - open radio stream;
  • - scrambled radio stream.

In the beginning of the list the channels that are being streamed into the network (if present) are listed. Additionally, multicast IP address and port are given.

After them non-configured channels follow (instead an IP address they are are marked as Not Configured).

To configure the channel, click with the left mouse button on the channel header and in the appeared block (figure 11) specify the necessary parameters.

The channels
Fig. 11

On pressing the Save button, the channel parameters are saved.

If you wish to cancel the channel streaming into the network, use the Unconfigure button.

''EPG'' - Electronic Program Guide

On this page it can be seen the electronic program guide, received from a satellite (figure 12).

Note: For the correct work of this page it is required that in adapter settings (section EPG Database Settings) MySQL server access parameters are set.

For each program the following information is provided:

  • Event ID - a unique program identifier (identifier of the program in the stream is the last 5 digits);
  • Start Time - program start date;
  • Duration - program duration;
  • Language - a language of the program;
  • Program -the program name and brief description.

RF/RCA Section

In the RF/RCA section a list of all installed analog adapters and their statuses is shown (figure 13).

The list of all installed analog adapters and their statuses

The Adapter column contains numbers of adapters in ascending order.

In the Hardware column it can be seen an adapter status (OK message means that everything is working fine; Failed message indicates a hardware failure of the device).

The Service column shows a software status (Running or Stopped).

The Channel column contains description of the videostream, set in the adapter parameters.

In the IP/Port column it can be seen a multicast IP address and port to which the channel is streamed.

Note: The column headers Adapter, Hardware, Service, Channel and IP/Port can be clicked with the right mouse button to enable sorting on the column. Repeated click on the header reverses the sorting order.

In the Actions column operations on a particular adapter are listed, namely:

  • Configure - switch to setting adapter basic parameters;
  • Start Service - start the service if not running;
  • Stop Service - stop the service if running.

Note: Stopping the service breaks streaming of TV channels into the network by the adapter.
