NetUP's Open Source IPTV Projects
NetUP contributes to open source software development providing useful tools for IPTV related tasks. The software is developed under GPLv2, GPLv3 that allows all interested parties to participate in the projects development. NetUP IPTVProbe – IPTV Streams Monitoring
The NetUP IPTVProbe is a powerful IPTV streams test and measurement system. It allows using an IP set-top box or a PC to test the quality of multimedia streams and to detect packet losses, delays and jitter. The system consists of the following parts:
- collector – collects statistics from probes and stores it in the database;
- probe – monitors passing IP packets and sends information to collector. It can work either on a PC with Linux OS or on an IP set-top box;
- reports subsystem – connects to the database and outputs collected information as diagrams and tables. Read more...
NetUP Multifiles - Multicast File Distribution System
The NetUP Multifiles is a system for file (firmware) distribution over UDP multicast designed for quick automated firmware upgrade on IP set-top boxes. The client can download the new firmware version by simply sending an IGMP request to connect to the required multicast group. After download and integrity check the file is unpacked and the update script is run.
Using multicast allows updating any number of IP settop boxes on-the-fly using only one stream.
The client doesn't perform the update if the current firmware version is similar to or newer than the one distributed in the stream. However, if the 'force update' option is specified on the server, the update is always done regardless of the version of the software. Read more...
